TECHNICAL CLASSES.

With reference to the letter by "Miltiades" in the Star of 15th inst., the Director of the Technical School has asked us to point out that — At the Hawera Technical School no girls are compelled to come out; at night, but may do, and are doing so. Young people joining under the compulsory clauses get, in the subjects suited to their intended vocations, free education, without holding proficiency certificates.

Girls and boys, who have reached the age of 17 years, frequently wish to get. or to continue to get; the benefits derivabte under the compulsory clause. There is, unfortunately, no provision in the Act to allow this.
