On Monday, 14th hist., at mv Urenui yards, I had a full yarding of cattle, with a representative attendance of buyers. Fat cattle came forward much in excess of advertised numbers, and buyers, appreciating the convenience of the present mode ofsellmg the fat cattle at these yards gave spirited bidding throughout, the 100 head being disposed of in good time at very- satisfactory prices as follows:—Pat cows £11 5s to £7 17s 6d, tat heifers and light framed cows £7 'So* 0 £6 3s ' prime fat bullocks £15 to tl3 Is. I n the dairy yards I had a very small entry, for which enquiry was very slack, Tmly a few head bein^ sold at trom £3 17s 6d to £4 10s. And dairy cow s at £7. I had an entry of about 750 head of store cattle and 350 sheep. The latter met with fair bidding, but vendors' reserves were in every instance much above buyers' umits. All classes of store cattle war© inquired for, Jersey 15-month heifers (second quality) being the slackest, 15----to 13-month Shorthorn sheers made £4/ good 15-month steers £3 ]2s 6d, yearling steers £2 lls to £3 Is, IS-month good Shorthorn heifers £2 14s 6d and £2 15s, smaller do. £2, 15-nonth Hoistein heifers £2 18s, Jersey 12- to 10-month heifers £2 3s and 4.9 5s 6d, Jersey-Shor,thoru 16-month, heifers (well done) £2 I7s. choice 16-month Jersey heifers £3 15s, empty. 2-^-vat heifers £3 14s (3d to £3 19s, &-yehr steers (rough) £4 6s to £4 10s, 2i- and 3-year steers £5 los, cows and calves (good) £6 as 6d to £6 18s, small £3 17s 6cl to £4 IBs, 3-year bullocks £6 18s, forward cows £6 2s 6d to £7 7s, good store cows £4 15s to £5 10s. others £4 to £4 10s, heavy bulls £12 10s to £7, 15-month Shorthorn bulls £5, yearling Jersey bulls £3 to £4 ss. 1 forward and fat ewes 17s, store pigs
On Tuesday, 15th instant, at- Rahotu, I had a good yarding of good1 framed, nice-oonditioriecV cattle, for which I had a ready sale at the following prices :—Well grown 15 months Shorthorn heifers £2 19s to £3 Os 6d, smaller £2 2s to £2 ss, rough yearling steers £3 to £3 os 6d, springing heifers £4 10s,* yearling bulls £2 Bs, cows and calves £5 19s, 21-year steers (gcpd) £5 16s, fair line of 2-year steers' £4 19s, 2£ to 3-year steers £7, heavy bulls £6 17s 6d to £1-2 7s 6^ prime heavy fat cows £9 to £10 4s. lighter cows £7 10s to £8 9s, forward cows £6 to £7 4s; store cows (good) up to £5 16s poor £3 7s to £3.185. At Kohuratahi on Wednesday for my bullock fair and cattle sale, there J va? ,go°d ? ntry, particularly bullocks, the majority of which were m forward, condition and brought very favorable comment • from 'the buyers present, these> making gooU competition for all lines, practically everything being cleared at the following prices:, —4-year bullocks, 26 at £11 7s, 3-year bullocks 58 at £9 17s, 33 at £9 los, 32 at £9" Bs, 49 at £8 l'Bs, 9 at £7 15s 48 good 2^-year steers at £6 16s, 17 at £6 12 at £5 12s, and small lots of bullocks at £10, £8 12s 6d, and £8 6s, 2-year empty heifers £3 19s, bulls £4 10s to £7 5s store cows £4 2s to £6 7s, 15 months Shorthorn heifers £2 10s good 15 months steers £3 12s to £3 18s 6d, mixed 2-tooth sheep 15s 3d.
