NOW THE OBJECTIVE

PRETORIA, Dec. 10. Twelve hundred Free State rebels -surrendered on Tuesday.
General Botha has announced that the rebellion has ended, and he will now proceed against German SouthWest Africa.
The surrender was the direct OUt,«ome of General Botha's operations in the Reitz. district, which culminated on the 4th in the capturing of 700, and Also 200 who surrendered.
General Botha has announped that only small bands remain in the Free for which the police will suffice. The people's patriotic sacrifices -have converted a grave danger into a means of cementing the Union. Just punishment will be meted out, but he ■Appeals for forbearance and forgiveness.
General Botha adds: "Maritz and 3£emp will seek to. invade the Union, and our next duty is to deal with that danger and make it impossible for -German South-West Africa to be used as a base against the Union in future.
