HAWERA B v. OKAIAWA
This match was played at Okaiawa yesterday. Hawera opened with four I men present, and the first wicket" fell lin the first over. Douglas and Blamires held on till reinforcements arrived, and put on. 122 for the second wicket. The innings closed for 156. R. Penny and Whaleu bowled effectively, the former securing 4 wickets in 8 balls at one stage of the game, the1 victims being Blamires, Douglas, and Machin, all bowled. Boyes was run out in the meanwhile, and live wickets fell for 3 runs. Okaiawa failed to get going, Short being the only double-figure scorer, with 14. Gardner captured 6 wickets for 25; Blamires, 3 for 17. The Okaiawa ground is greatly improved, and with a good wicket and field, is conducive to good scoring.
