BEEF TRUST COMMISSION REPORT.

The report of the Royal Commission of Enquiry into the operations of the Beef Trust in Australia has been tabled in the House. The report finds that American companies trading in the United Kingdom, which belong to a group known as the "Beef Trust," have been purchasers of Australian meat, through distributing agents abroad for a considerable period and sine© the import duty on meat was removed in the United States last year these companies and others engaged in the trade in the United States have made purchases in Australia and elsewhere for shipment to the United States. All these purchases were made in the ordinary course of business, and there.was nothing to show that they were not njade under ordinary, competitive conditions.
