THEIR REVERSE MINIMISED. i PETROGRAD, Dec. 2. j Official.—Our offensive northward of Lowicz has been crowned with success. The enemy's reinforcements from Kalisch. took the offensive at Sierodz, and our advance guards in the Laska district engaged them in a desperate battle ail day. Further south we captured Szertsoff, [ where a brigade of infantry and the Prussian Guards, with five batteries, were dislodged and driven back in disorder. The Czar has gone to the front. AMSTERDAM, Dec. 2. An official Berlin report states that the German array east of Lodz was seriously threatened in the rear by the Russians, but broke through after fierce battles lasting three days. We captured 12,000 prisoners and .25 guns without losing a single gun. Our losses were not light, but not colossal.
