SLOW VESSELS OF SMALL DRAFT.

LONDON, Oct. 22. It is stated that the warships on the Belgian coast are armored monitors purchased from Brazil at the. outbreak of the war, built by the-Vickers Co., at Barrow-in-Furness, from a British de^ sign for river work in Brazil. Their displacement is 1250 tons and speed has been sacrificed to driaught as they only steam 11J knots. They draw less than nine feet and are armed with six-inch guns. They left hurriedly on Saturday with scouts and torpedoers. Firing commenced on Sunday and they returned on Monday with seven who had been wounded by shrapnel.
