IRISH STEAMER SUNK.
GERMAN PROMISES TO PORTUGUESE ROYALISTS.

An English steamer saw the Irish steamer Cormorant sunk in the North Sea,. It is supposed she struck a mine. The captain believes that a torpedo boat noticed leaving the spot took off the crew.
The King gave an audience to the. Gaekwar of Baroda.
The Daily Mail states that the Germans assured the Portuguese Royalists that- Germany would restore the monarchy if Portugal did not intervene in the war, and they promised a base in Lagos Bay, south of Lisbon.
