TREATMENT OF SUSPECTS
CABLES DELAYED
MELBOURNE, Oct. 22. A proclamation has been issued authorising State commandants to seize arms, ammunition, telegraphic plants, documents and maps in the possession of suspects. Cabinet has also decided not to allow the naturalisation of any more Germans or -Austrians.
HOBART, Oct. 22. The dredger Pourabbel, sunk by the Emden, was the property of the Marine Board, and was intended to be utilised in harbor improvement works at Launoeston. The dredge, which was built at Glasgow, cost over £40,000, and was not insured against war risks.
SYDNEY, Oct. 22
There, is a paucity of war news. Cables from London are considerably delayed.
