LONDON, Oct. 20

Sir Charles Lucas, in the course of a Times' article on his impressions of Australia and the war, says that Australians had a very direct interest in the war. In view of German possessions and trade in the Paeiftc, Australians may well feel that it is worth paying a large price to strengthen thenown future position in the Pacific, which they right or wrongly considered had been insufficiently guarded in the early eighties when Germany entered upon colonial expansion. He did not notice any adverse comment on Britain's employment of colored troops or Japan's participation*.
