-Mate, apparently has taken a new lease of life after a long, quiet winter spell, ior things have livened up a good deal of late. We had Mr Astbury the Liberal candidate, in last week. He gave a very good address and we are waiting for tne others now to come along. ;■■■• Mr and Mrs Trott celebrated the 21st birthday of their second son, and the party was a great success. The local hall was prettily decorated for'the occasion, and the presents were numerous Dancing w a « k«pt going - till the. small hours, and the music was supplied by Mrs Johnson, of Hawera. The local creamery is getting busy again. The butter-fat tests are there, like everywhere else, somewhat low and run i roin 3.1 to 4 2 Mr Kemp takes the nrst place for the second year with a test of 7.0, whioh proves "conclusively that good feeding and good breeding are essential.
