SYDNEY, Oct. 20. At to-day's wool auctions Germans and Austrians will not be allowed to operate.
• The Chamber of Commerce'■" at a meeting of consignees discussed the position arising from the internment of German steamers in neutral ports. Legal advice states that consignees have no claim on underwriters-for-as-' sistance. The Government refused to "be a party to any proposal to bring "steamers from Batavia, and would not .consent to lay a suggestion before the Admiralty. The meeting resolved to , cable ,to Burns, Philp and Co.'s agent at B,atavia to ascertain the extent of requirements of the Norddeutscher Co. allowed German-Ausiralian companies respecting the transhipment of the cargoes of the Roon, Stolberg, Lune- ' berg, Lubeck and other steamers sheltering at Java ports. The postal authorities notify that wireless communication to Rabaul via Thursday Island and Port Moresby is open for public correspondence. Press messages are not permitted. - ~
