The French for several days were unsuccessful :in an attempt to dislodge 800 -Germans hidden in-a cave at Soissons. -Eventually, 1500 Algerian sharpshooters, with bayonets between. their teeth, -crawled to the trenches at night and hurled themselves on the Germans.
