Mr Walter Symes, formerly M.P. for Stratford, is at present lying,seriously ill at Hamilton.

Mr Thomas Tudehope, one of the oldest residents in Auckland, died on Sunday morning. Mr Tudehope came to New Zealand in the; Duchess of Argyle in 1842. He was then a child six months of age, and during the 72 years that have since intervened he saw Auckland grow from a mere village to its present proportions. Mr Tudehope assisted in the formation of the Old Colonists' Association, and attended the annual gatherings with unfailing regularity. . . ■
