Postal officiate gave evidence that many of his letters which had been opened, contain•«d remittances of from five to fifteen pounds for various spies. fltt the first hearing of the charges - agjnst Ernst, who is a hairdresser, r «vißence was given that the police, by *rainining the prisoner's correspondence since 1912, discovered th&t his *S*op had been used as a place of call for letters addressed to spies at Chatham, Sheerness, and naval centres.]
