(Received Aug. 12, 12.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 12. Sir Rupert Clarke lias returned from an expedition up the Fly River, Papua. He verified Sir William Macgregor's charts. He was forced to abandon two boats and continued for a further thirty miles on foot to Mt. Donaldson, where he planted the Union Jack. He managed to avoid hostile relations with the natives, although trouble was threatened.
