OPERATIONS IN ALSACE.

SKIRMISHES ALONG THE WHOLE FRONT.

PARTS, Aug. 11. It is reported that troops from Mulhansen occupied Colmar. An armored train is repairing the railway between Belfort and Mulhausen. There was a pathetic incident at> Paris, where a great crowd, including many of the veterans of 1870, removed the crepe wherewith the Strasburg statue had been swathed for forty years. The ceremony was conducted witli tho utmost dignity. The crowds gave only subdued applause, and were intensely moved. It is officially reported that the French troops continue to hold Ferney, Mulhausen and Altkirch. Before them is the forest of Hardt, which is strongly held. A number of skirmishes occurred along the whole frcnt. Both Germans and French have been reinforced. A hundred French were killed and wounded at Altkirch. The French on Saturday night captured the passes at Bonhomni and St. Marie, through the Vosges. and also hold the summits commanding the St. Marieijx mines. Martial law resulted in humorous pretensions and a, display of patriotic signs upon closed shops stating that the proprietors and assistants had joined the colors, some foreigners thus hoping to secure immunity from damage by patriotic mobs.
