MOUMAHAKI EXPERIMENTAL FARM'S GIFT.
An enthusiastic meeting of the officers and workmen of the Moumahaki Experimental Farm was held there on Monday evening;. The manager (Mr T. W.' Lonsdale) said that the British Empire was involved in the most serious conflict the world had ever known. It therefore hehoved them as true Britons to assist to the utmost in upholding the traditions of their country and to keen the Union Jack in the place it had held for centuries. He asked them to compare their present conditions with what would *take place in the event of Britain being vanquished, and felt sure that every man in the meeting would stand shoulder to shoulder in the defence of King and country. Messrs Hill, Freeman and Gunn endorsed the sentiments of the speaker, and said that the situation must he viewed seriously. The integrity of the Empire was at stnke. and they should assist to the utmost in maintaining the traditions dear to the heart of every Briton. So'n^ discussion followed, and it wa« decided to present the Government with an officer's horse (vnlned at £50) and to express to the .Minister the loyal smpnthy of the mecviins:. Patriotic sonrr1. wore suns, and the meeting concluded hy singing "Tlie Marseillaise," "Rule * Bntfinnift," and "God Sn.Vf, the King."
