RIVAL VOLUNTEER FORCES.
A DANGEROUS POSITION
LONDON, June 13
Lady Londonderry has converted part of her Mount Stewart (County Down) residence into a hospital, with twentyone beds, for wounded Ulster volunteers.
The Daily News says the situation in Ireland is serious, but no doubt Mr Redmond's influence will prevail. Directly the volunteers realise that an attempt is being made to turn them into a weapon to destroy the Parliamentary cause and revise the discarded and fatal doctrine of physical force, their allegiance to Mr Redmond will be assured.
Mr Bonar Law, at Glasgow, said the Nationalist volunteers were in one sense far more dangerous to peace than the Ulster volunteers, for they were less disciplined and not under a single leader whom they trusted and revered. The situation was fraught with all the elements of an explosion possible at any moment, with appalling consequences.
