From the evidence, it appeared that on May 11 the attention of a constable was directed to the child, and on examination he found it a mass of bruises from head to heel, with some abarasions and marks about the face. The little one was taken to a. doctor who, upon examination, described if as a^ shocking case. The woman was fined £10, and expenses, or in default two "'onths' imprisonment with hard labor. The custody of the child was taken from her.
