ANOTHER DISASTROUS COLLISION.

The Canadian Pacific Railway Co.'s Siner the Empress of Ireland is believed to have collided with the Eed ♦Star liner Hanover, east of Father Point. The message to the Government says ■there is no sign of either liner. Life--boats are visible in the distance, circling around. The Government steamer Eureka, •which, responded to the Empress of /Ireland's "5.0.5." calls, and the Gc•vernment steamer Lady Evelyn, are -standing by. The Empress of Ireland cleared yes"terday for Liverpool, with 77 first, 206 and 504 third class passengers, iand crew. The passengers include iive hundred members of the Salvation -Army going to the International Conigress in London. Both vessels are believed to have *sunk. (Received May 30, 10.30 a.m.) OTTAWA, May 29. A thousand lives are believed to <have been lost when the Canadian Pacific steamer, Empress of Ireland, -collided with the Norwegian collier "Storstad (not the Hanover as previously reported) off' Father Point, near Ri«aousbi, during a dense fog, sinking in "ten minutes after the collision. Four hundred and twenty of a total -of fourteen hundred, with crew and ;passengers, were taken from lifeboats to Rimouski by Government steamers "that were standing by.
