LABOR WILL RETALIATE

The Socialists' Society has circularised the trade unions of Ca;pe Colony, proposing retaliatory action should the Union Government pass ; its contemplated reactionary legislation. The scheme includes organised withdrawals from the defence forces, a boycott of African goods, withdrawals from the Savings Bank, and a general strike. The Cape Argus belittles the movement, but warns Parliament to avoid
legislation antagonistic to trade unions because such"Would be playing into the lands of the revolutionary elements.
