THE HOLLAND CASE.
FEELING AT PAHIATUA
BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.
PAHIATTJA, April 25. A hurriedly convened meeting today, the Mayor presiding, and attended by many leading citizens, unanimously passed the following motion: "That this meeting, representative of the people of Pahiatua,' hurriedly called, desires to record that the motion of sympathy with Holland, passed at the Mr Hunter's meeting, was supported by a very few people; that in the opinion of the meeting more than ninety per cent of the local people consider Holland very leniently dealt with, also that Mr Edward Baucke, president of the Pahiatua Progressive Association, had nothing to do with the motion carried at Mr Hunter's meeting, and no sympathy with the motion." .
It was also decided to ask the Mayor to call a public meeting to further consider the resolution passed at Mr Hunter's meeting. All classes of the community were invited to attend.
The meeting decided to forward an urgent telegram to the Minister of Justice disclaiming all sympathy with the resolution passed on Thursday night by a few people re Holland's case. A further resolution was carried, endorsing the action of the Mayor in presiding at the Social Democratic meeting for the reason that it was desirable that the Mayor should take the chair at any public meeting; called by any section of the community.
