SHOUTING SEASON.

The shooting season for the year opens on Friday next (Ist of May), and from present indications the season should be a good one. In the Hawera district the imported game that may be killed are cock pheasants and quail, the number of cock pheasants that may be killed by any one person in any one day being restricted to twelve. Licenses to kill such imported game may be obtained, on payment of £1, from the Post Offices at Hawera, Patea, Pihama, Otakeho, Manaia, Awatuna East, Kaponga, Mangatoki, Okaiawa, Normanby, Eltham, Manutahi, Alton, Hurleyviile, Waverley, Auroa, Kakarameamea, lliverlea, Te Kiri, and Waitotara. Native game, such as grey duck, teal and black swans, may be killed within the same district, the number of such native game that may be killed by any one person in any one day, to be not more than twenty-five head in all. Paradise duck or Native pigeon must not be shot in any district this season. Persons are warned against shooting without licenses, and extra rangers have been appointed throughout the district to detect anyone who offends against this regulation.
