Nolan, who, as every member would admit, was one of the best members and chairmen the Board had ever had. Jle had had differences with Mr Nolan, an<* would probably have differences with Mr Pacey, but a little opposition was a good thing. , Mr Pacey briefly replied, stating that he hoped they would all work together for the best interests of the Board. He admitted that it would be a hard thing to follow Mr Nolan, but there was one thing, he would not have to occupy the chair. The Chairman moved that a letter of condolence be forwarded to the ramily of the late Mr Scott, of Whakamara; He had had the pleasure of working with the deceased, who was the f lrs t chairman of the Board, and who worked conscientiously for the dis-1 trict and for the Board.
