LONDON, March 4. Hugh Dalrympls, an ex-convict, has T.ied Baroness yon Goetz, a wealthy philanthropist, and organiser of the "Farm for Discharged Prisoners." Dalrymple alleged that he loaned the ibarohess money. He produced scores K.i the baionesV (alleged) letters confining endearments. In a sensational ■rcrcss-exanxination, counsel proved that "Dalrymple was convicted of frauds on women in 1896. In order to explain •discrepancies in the. letters, Dalrymple .-■alleged that a twin-brother was reSDonsible. Dalrymple's counsel threw ■ up his brief, and a verdict was returned .for the defendant. The judge impounded 100 letters, which were obviously forgeries. Evidence was given thlt the baroness had £40,000 in a ■-bank at the" time of the blackmailing.
