HOTEL WORKERS' DISPUTE.

WELLINGTON, March 4L In the hotel workers' dispute before) the Arbitration Court, evidence was given for the workers regarding the long hours worked and the successfuloperation of the six-day weak im Sydney. Mr Beveridge, for the hotel keepers, gave evidence that to award sik days a week would penalise Wellington hotels against every other port in New Zealand. Such a concession would costs the Grand Hotel alone an additional sum of £717 per annum to run. lie handed in a balance-sheet of the hotel on condition that it was regarded a.s. confidential.
The secretary for the Union objer ted to this procedure, and contended that the union had no opportunity of oontraverting any statement. Further, that the question of profit and loss in an industry should not be considered m fixing wages. The president ruled that the Cr-rt could not receive balance-sheets, Erfc employers were entitled to show wE-'fc the granting of the demands weEd mean. ..."
