SWaNDON, March 4. The wool sales totalled '8.723 bales, including 5644 i«f iNew Zealand's. lEStere was an excellent selection of crossbreds, a rerowded attendance, and a record num&er from Hie Pnated States. Keenest competition was evinced for ail classes, the Unirted !Siates and Yorkshire bidding excitedly for crossbreds, and Yorkshire aiad the Continent for merinos.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London office: There was a full attendance at the opening of the sales to-day, competition by Home, Continental and American buyers being active, and prices as compared with the close of the preceding series, ruled about 10 per cent, higher for crossbred and 5 to 7| per cent, for merino. The opening catalogues w^re fairly representative.
