CATHOLIC BAZAAR.
The Catholic bazaar was again largely attended last evening, and. good business was done by the various stallholders. Mrs Edwards' pupils opened the programme with a cake walk, which, was cleverly danced: rose, Japanese, and folly dances were very popular., .and the Irish jig (danced by special request), and the tarantella, which, hay become quite a favorite with audiences. The tug-of-war'contests resulted as follow:—Mokoia Railway v. scratcit team: The pull' lasted the hill tim-e> and was declared a draw. Mangateki Cheese Factory v. Fire Brigade: The cheese men -proved far superior to the local team,'and pulled the brigade in 1J minutes. Ararata v. Meremerc: The pull resutled in favor of Mereme.ro by about four inches. The teams left. in are: Austin Road Maoris v. Merpmere, Mangatoki v. Mokoia Manaia v. Julian's. To-night the third round will be pulled. The semi and final pulls will be decided on Monday evening, and there will be several lasvstick competitions also. The bazaar will be continued again this evening; and again on Monday evening, when the special tug-of-war and lazy-stick programme will be special features.
