In any competition that may take place for the honor of being the oldest white resident in the group, account must be taken of the Rev. Father Leberre, of the Catholic Mission of Kadavu (says the Fiji Times). Born on July 27 in the revolutionary .year of 1830, Father Leberre arrived in' Fiji in 1859. and has remained there ever since, his 84 years and his 55 'years' residence in a climate which, it is often said, is "not fit for a wwhite man," Father Leberre is as well and hearty as a novice, and looks into the future with the calm eye and undiminished confidence of untroubled, youth.
