NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT.
At Waiwakaiho, on Friday, 16th inst, I had a small yarding of cattle, of which I was able to clear a fair portion at the following prices : 15-months steers, £2 19s to £3 7s 6d; 15-months , colored heifers, £3 13s; bulls (small), £4 2s to £5 8s; cows and calves, £4 11s; store cows, I £3 6s to £4 10s; forward cows, £5 10s to £5 17s 6d; springing heifers, £5 2s 6d to £6 7s 6d; choice Jesey cow, £10 10s; forward ewes, 13s sd. On Jlondav, 19th inst, at Toko, 15 to 18----months heifers sold at from £2 Is to £3 Is 6d; bulls, £5 15s to £9 7s 6d: store cows, £2 to £4 10s; forward cows, £4 18s to £5 11s. On Tuesday, 20th inst, at my Stratford yards, 1 had* a fair entry, with a small attendance. The demand throughout was quiet, cows being a shade easier than at previous sales. Prices obtained were: Yearling to 15-months steers, £3 to £3 10s; smaller, £1 19s 6d to £2 2s; 2 year steers, 5£4 2s 6d; 2£-year steers, £5 7s; Is*-months well-grown heifers, £2 19s; cows and calves, £5 to £5 ss; bulls, £2 17s to £3 10s; small store cows, £3 7s 6d to £3 17s; good stores and forward cows, £4 11s to £5 19s; r fat cows, £6 5s to £7 3s. . At my Stony River yards on Wednesday, 21st inst, I 'had a full yarding, all pens and races •being well filled. There was a good attendance of buyers, with a fair enquiry right through for most lines. Some very nice-conditioned, bulls were yarded, and these sold very readily at excellent prices. The store and forward cows yarded were smaller framed than at recent sales, whilst vendors' reserves were placed as on better cattle, nevertheless I was able to clear most of the yarding at satisfactory prices. Several good pens 6f' weaners were offered,-and" I disposed oi the early-weaned at*1 very good' prices, but had very little enquiry for the smaller sorts. Prices were: Early weaner steers, £1 11s 6d to £1 15s 6d (very nice Shorthorn lines); mixed weaners (more steers than heifers), £1 10s; small weaners, 10s to 13s 6d; yearling to 15-months heifers, £2 4s to £2 17s; 15-months colored heifers, £3 5s to £3 14s; 15 to 18-months line of good Shorthorn steers, £2 5s 6d to £3 ss: 2-year steers (with some rolor and stnergy), "~£3 • 17s 6d; 2£-year steers, £4 14s to £5; in-calf heifers (good), £4 to £4 • 10s; springing heifers, £4 15s to £5 10s; dairy cows, £7; Stags, £5 10s; bulls, £9 15s to £2 ss; fat cows, £7 to £6 12s 6d; forward cows, £5 19s to £5 Is; store cows, £4 165.t0 £2 17s. At Addington fat cattle sold with little or no change; fat lambs and fat sheep were very fitm; and store sheep were in keen demand, specially young ewes. • Fat lambs: Tegs, £1 Is to £1 3s 6d, equal to. 6d per lb; average freezing weights, 17s '6d to £1 0s 6d, equal to &£d per lb; light und unfinished, 15s to 17s; prime wethers, £1 Is to £1 4s sd; otheTs, 18s 5d to £1 0s 6d; piime ewes, 19s to £1 4s; others, 16s to 18s 6d. Fat cattle: Steers, £7 to £11 10s; extra to £12; heifers, £5 10s to £8 10s; extra to £10 17s 6d; cows, £5 15s to £10 ss. Dairy cows made £3 9s to £9 ss; and extra to £12 7s 6d. Messrs Dalgety ana 'Co., Ltd., held their usual fortnightly sale- at their Wanganui East yards on. Wednesday afternoon, at which there was a fair attendance. There was a fair yarding of 6heep and a medium yarding of cattle. Prices were high, and were as follows:— Sheep: Good conditioned lambs, 9s 4d to 20s 3d; small do., ss; 4-tooth and 6-tooth »>wes, 11s lOd. -.. Cattle:' F.f. cows, on ' account of Mr H. V. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Johnsonyille sale .as follows:— A fair yarding of bullocks and a heavy one of sheep came forward. The bullocks sold well, but the sheep were .in too big supply.
