THE LYTTELTON AGREEMENT.

The latest development in connection. with the Lytteltbn watersiders is the announcement of the registration of an j industrial agreement between the employers and the arbitrationists. The agreement provides for the old condi- j tions with the following addition to the j usual preference clause: • • This clause shall operate only so long-as the union shall not" be associated in any way ! with.any other industrial or trade union or association of such unions or other ■ftorkers. The agreement remains in force until Juni 30 1916, all. shipping companies being parties to it. The clause makes it obligatory on the union to have no relations with the Federation of Labor, Trades Council or other Waterside Unions. At Lyttelton this morning a fijvnan off the .Westralia was fined £5 for assaulting arbitrationists and £5 for using abusive language on the same occasion. The Watersiders' Union hoav contains 659 members, 395 of whom -ne-e working to-day. Practically all the strikers remaining in port are now hidi-ded..
