CHRISTMAS TRADE.
NAPIER, Dec. 24
Notwithstanding the strike, tradespeople report that Christmas trade is booming fully up to last year's, and is in many cases considerably better. The settlement of the labor trouble has let the purse strings loose, and people are spending freely. There is a great influx of visitors for the holidays, the Mardi Gras Carnival being the special attraction. , The weather prospects are excellent.
