No information is permitted to escape as to the doings of the conference. Representatives of the seamen and shipowners met IJb-day, though an announcement of the result is expected to-morrow.
Mr Laracy, secretary of the Shearers Association,, received telegraphed advice to-day that the men refused work at one of the North Canterfbury stations because it was alleged the owner had acted lately as a special constable.
The Rimntaka's departure for London was delayed by the rain. The vessel,, which is the fifth to leave for Honae since that strite I>egan, is now m tfiße stream. ■
