OPERA HOUSE
THE WORLD'S PICTURES. ,
The new programme of moving pictures at the Opera House on Monday evening was a capital one in every respect, all the films being beautifully clear and the subjects of the best..The chief of the dramatic series was entitled "The Grandmother's Lamp," a precis of which appeared in yesterday's issue. It was a splendid nbn, and aroused . the. enthusiasm of the audience who applauded the various incidents brought out. This picture was supported by another of equal attractions although it was a drama of quite a different kind, named "The Girl of. the Cabaret." It told a story of domestic life; how the old associations of a city girl still appealed to her in the midst of a good iome. and plenty, and how by sacrificing herself to her old life- she sank into; poverty and misery. The programme included a picturesque scenic film of Athens, the capital of Greece. All the old ruins and monu-. ments of ancient city were shown magnificently, and from view points chosen in order to' give full value to the. wonderful sights. Of the comedies ..there; was one which specially appealed to the young folk. It was entitled "Bobby's Magic Nickle." The characters in the picture were all children under 12 years of age. The programme was thoroughly enjoyed, together with the selections by the Lyric Orchestra. Jt will be repeated H/o-night.
