SUPPLEMENTARY ESTIMATES.
VOTES
* WELLINGTON, Dec: 13. Votes on the Supplementary Estimates include £25,000 for the cost of the smallpox epidemic. A number of bonuses and special allowances are made to all branches of the Parliamentary staff on account of the length of' the session. £500 is allotted for the International Medical Congress to be held at Auckland. £200 is granted the widow of Mr A. Hamilton, Director of the Dominion Museum. The allocation for expenses connected with the waterside workers' strike is £100,000Mrs Laurenson, widow of the late Mr G. Laurensony M.P., receives a gratuity of £300. The supplementary allowance for the Territorial Force is £5200, the total Defence vote being £8700. The cost of counsel on the Westport Harbor Royal Commission was* £100. £350 is allocated for the expenses of the visit of Professor Prince to report, on the New Zealand Fisheries. Messrs Robertson and Veitch, M.P.'s, will receive £245 for services upon the <Cost-*6f Liyipg Com mission. • £2900 is granted to the Universities. Otago receives £300 for specialisation, Auckland £1500, Victoria College £500, Bursaries and subsidies £600. - - ' For services upon the Education Commission, Messrs Poland and Thomson. M.P.'s, receive £102. For planting reserves in the Mackenzie County £210 is allowed.
