POSTAL SERVICE.
WELLINGTON, Dec. 8. The Postmaster-General, speaking at the Wellington letter-carriers' dinner on Saturday night, said that since April 25 rural mail deliveries had been established. Since July 1 the concession of posting letters without a late fee at flag stations and railway sidings had been extended to non-mail days. As w temporary measure during the present unusual condition of trade, an extent sion is made of the weight of inland parcels from lllbs to 211bs, betveen post offices served by rail or steamer. A reciprocal arrangement was '.ec.ontly entered into with the Australian savings banks for the transfer of accounts, for the convenience of travelling depositors. The work of laying underground telephone lines was in progress in several of the larger and smaller cenhes. „
