OBITUARY.
DEATH OF MR. ROBERTS

(Received Dec. 3, 11.45 a.m.) r MELBOURNE, Dec. 3. Mr Roberts had for many years suffered from heart trotihle. The death ,was tragic, as just prior Mr Roberts ■had engaged in a wrangle with the Chairman of Committees, who threatened (because of his interjections), if lie continued his attitude of insolence "Chair^ that the Chair would have to deal with him.
Mr Roberts was getting iris hat and fstiek, and proceeding along the Queen's Hall, when he totpeted and. fell, clutching the baseof the statue of Queen Victoria:rßoc^ors Molbney and O'Hara to Hi_s- assistance, but pronounced ! life extinct.
Mr Cook and Mr Fisher paid tributes to the deceased. The House passed a motion recognising his services, and expressing sympathy with his widow and family. It then adjourned until Thursday. Mr Roberts' death will be a. severe blow- the. Labor party, of wjfiich he was a prominent member, especially as it has so closely followed that of Mr Fraser. .
