-x .DUNEDIN, Nov. 17. J.An unfortunate tragedy occurred afc-" Belleknowes this afternoon, when Robert Chalmers, formerly a resident of . Waitara, who had retired from active? pursuits, and was living at. 53, Preston Crescent,* was accidentally poisoned. Mr Chalmers was suffering-" from influenza, and at midday his wifer--went to give him some influenza mixture. Mrs Chalmers, however, suffers from extremely defective eyesight, and unfortunately 'gave her husband aw dbse of vapor cresolene, which had been kept in the house for her grandchildren, when they had been suffering from whooping cough. Mr Chalmers atonce became unconscious, and although. Dr. Evans was immediately called in. and tried every means to bring hint round, he died at about 2 p.in.1' Deceased was 7,9. years of age.
