Omyo is a massive horse, standing 17 hands, splendidly proportioned all over, with the best of legs and feet, hair of the finest quality, and is perfect in action. Ribs well sprung, powerful quarters, superior bone, and showing all the type and character of the modern Clydesdale. Omyo needs no embellishment in the way oi word-painting. On breeding lines his pedigree shows the most valuable strains to be found in the Scottish Clydesdale Stud Book. He was bred by Robert Osborne, Esq., Morton Mains, Thornhill, afterwards passing into the hands of James Kilpatrick, Esq., Craigie Mains, Kihnarnock, who disposed of the colt to A. Alexander, Esq., Moturoa, from whom the present owner purchased. Being a late foal (July 9, 1909) Omyo was not shown at home. Oyama (13118-, Vol. XXXIIi:, the sire of Omyo, was bred by Messrs D. and K. Scott, Boghead, Girvan, his sire being the noted Baron's Pride horse Baronson (10987) Vol. XXIII. His dam is Scottish Princess (12916), Vol. XIX., by Prince oi Cathcart (8915), Vol. XIII. Oyam& has been a successful horse in the, show rings, besides being *a great breeding sire, his name being always bigh up in the yearly winning lists. He is a holder of the Cawdor Cup, the highest honor at the Clydesdale shows in Scotland, gaining this distinction as a two-year-old. In the same year he won in his classes at the Glasgow Stallion Show and also at Kilmarnock. As a three-year-old, Oyama set a further seal upon his fame by gaining the Brydon Shield, and won in a particularly strong year. Oyarna'e sire, Baronson, is by the world-renowned Baron's Pride (91221. Voll. XIV., first dam Princess Alexandra (13196), Vol. XX., by Prince AlcxanuJi (8899), Vol. XIII. • Baron's Pride was bred by Messrs R. and J. Findlay, Springhill, Bailliston, his sire being Si? Everard (5353), Vol. IX.; first dam Forest Queen (7233), Vol. XI., by Springhill Darnley (2429). Sir Everard is by Top Gallant (1850), Vol. 1., by Darnley (222), dam by London Prince (472), Vol. I. , Omyo's dam, Peggy (27010), Vol. XXXIIII., is by Baron Beaulieu (11257), Vol. XXIV.; second dam, Nancy of Wyndholm (14531), Vol. XXIII., by Crusader (9178), Vol. XIV.
