AN ESCAPED PRISONER'S DEATH.
BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. (Received Oct. 8, 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 7. At the inquest on Jones (an escaped prisoner who was shot near Ruthin prison, Bateman, an. Oxford undergraduate, gave -evidence that he fired out of fear, believing that Jones had a •revolver. As witness was incapable of giving aid, he left the wounded man until his (Bateman's) father__came and found Jones dead. A verdict of manslaughter was returned against Bateman.
