OVERWHELMED.
NEW YORK, Oct. 7. - The town of Nome, Alaska, has been largely wiped out by a great storm. Tremendous seas broke over the waterfront. Vessels have been sent to bring Off the inhabitants who were desirous of leaving. The sea at Nome swept a number of houses from the waterfront into the sea. During the storm a fire broke out and destroyed the whole business section of the town.
