According to a letter from a trader in the New Hebrides 3 an expedition from a French warship, sent to Epi to punish natives for the recent murder of a French planter, seized and bound the. natives of three villages, raided their houses, and confiscated the property found therein. The natives were kept aboard the warship till the actual murderers, who belonged to .another village, were handed over. Only a portion of teh confiscated property was returned.
