WELLINGTON, August 1. The campaign being carried on by Mr Lysnar, of Gisborne, against the methods of handling frozen meat and dairy produce from- New Zealand at the port of London was given a mixed reception at the Agricultural Conference to-day. The Chairman (Mr Campbell) paid Mr Lysnar a high compliment on the work lie had done in pricking up the port of London authorities to action and the improvement of port methods. He had hear! those authorities in;e.ided to send a man out to Australia and. New Zealand specially to controvert the statements made by Mr Lysnar. Mr Hammond, of Wanganui, said Mr Lysnar was on right lines, and had done a power of good to New Zealand interests. Sir Walter Buchanan took the other view, and declared Mr Lysnar's remarks about the capacity of Bristol for handling New Zealand produce were disputed absolutely. In many other respects he contended Mr Lysnar's statements had been most unfortunate for the cause he had at heart, and had done more harm to the cause than could be well imagined.. The Chairman wound up the discussion by saying that whatever Mr Lysnar's methods, they had certainly had the effect of bringing about improvements at the port of London.
