NAPIER HARBOR BOARD.

AN ELECTION PETITION DISMISSED.

BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION

HASTINGS, June 5. A decision relating to the conduct of local elections was given in the petition to void the election of Eustace Lane, as representative of the Borough of Hastings, on the Napier. Harbor Board. Having reviewed the points in dispute the Magistrate said: Mr Lane polled 525 more votes than the next highest candidate, and it is thought to upset his election by mere technicaliites. The Courts will not lightly upset an election by reason of irregularities of electoral officers, for which the successful candidate and the electors were in no way responsible, and at which neither he nor they have in any sense of the word connived. The petition was dismissed, with costs against the petitioner.
