ENTERTAINMENTS.

"THE BUTTERFLIES."

"The Butterflies," an up-to-date English comedy costume company; will open a two nights' season at the Opera House on Friday evening next. Mr McCrea, who is responsible for bringing this talented combination to New Zealand, acts as booking agent- for quite a number of pier pavilions and I other popular places of amusement in England, and comes with the highest 1 credentials. As instancing to what a pitch the costume party business has reached in England, he booked no less than 386 weeks for various parties between April (Easter week) and the end of September of last year. At the close of the 1911 season Mr McCrea picked out "The Butterflies" as the most ideal party for a tour of the, world, embracing South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia,, owing to their great versatility. That his judgment was good is abundantly proved by the fact that the original tour of South Africa was only intended to run over twelve weeks. The success achieved by "The Butterflies" was so great that the tour had to be extended to cover ten months. With such credentials it is safe to assert that the New Zealand tour will also be an unqualified success, particularly when it is remembered that the Auckland season lasted seven weeks. The party consists of three ladies and four gentlemen, every one of them a headline in his or her own particular line of business. The New Zealand Times said of the combination when showing in Wellington: "Everything on their programme is new to audiences in these parts; there are no stale dishes, and the whole programme goes with a dash and swing." The box plan will be opened at Cole and Donnelly's to-morrow morning at. 9 o'clock.
