NEW ZEALAND CADETS.
Captain. Cardale, of the local Defence Office, received a telegram this morning from Colonel Chaytor, Officer Commanding at Palmers'ton North, asking if the New Zealand Cadets, who have just returned from Canada, could be billeted in Hawera on Monday evening. After a hurried consultation with, the I^ayor (Mr A. W. Gillies) it was decided that the notice was too short to admit of arrangements being mad©, and a reply was sent to that effect. The Cadets will consequently go on to Stratford on Monday, where they will be the guests of the MayorjMr W. P. Kirkwooa). On Monday evening they will be entertained by the Operatic Society in that town, and on Tuesday will visit New KTymouEh, returning to Stratford in the evening. On Wednesday the Cadets will leave for Wanganui by the mail train, and it is probable that they may stay in Hawera for a few hours, resuming the journey by the train leaving here at 12 o'clock.
