SUFFOCATED IN MUD.

NAPIER, Oct. 22. The police have been informed that a man named Peter Burdon has been found dead on the road near Waikarae. The deceased, who was employed as a flaxmill hand at Tutira, purchased a supply of whisky before leaving the Waikarae Hotel for his camp yesterday, and when found was lying face downwards in the mud. It is believed that he fell and was suffocated.

WOMEN AT PARISH MEETINGS. The Synod has adopted a resolution recommending the General Synod to admit women to parish meetings.
