TURKISH BATTLESHIPS AT VARNA.
SOFIA, Oct. 21. The Turkish battleships reappeared at Varna, on Sunday. It is semi•offieially stated that the intervention ■of the fleet is to bluff the .Powers, who "are negotiating with a view to the 'neutrality of the Black Sea. Mititary critics in London point out "that none of the correspondents have yet been allowed.at the front, and that much of the war news is evidently intended to sustain enthusiasm in BelVgrade and Sofia and to deceive the vdnemy. . The Morning Post estimates that the 'Tinlts have 160,000 men and 412 guns at Adrianlople and Kirk Kilisseh, and the Bulgarians 270,000 (including tbos« guarding communication routes) and "788 guns.
VIENNA, Oct. 21
Critics are of opinion that the Turks, are mistaken in concentrating at Adrianople, and that the Allies' real objective is Salonika, which the Servians, Montenegrins and Greeks will capture while the Bulgarians check the Turks at Adrianople.
SOFIA, Oct. 21
On Friday evening General Ivan off, with the first army corps, occupied the banks of the Maritza river, and found the bridge, railway station, and telegraph office at Mustapha practically intact. On Saturday they drove the Turks into the forts forming the outer defences of Adrianople.
The second army corps, under General Itadkodimitrieff, • advancing along the Tunja Valley, captured Turnovo The third army corps is under General Kutincheff.
The Turks in the Razlog district are arresting Bulgarian notables and de-: manding ransoms. The Turks are asking £300 from each village, and are heating hundreds of the villagers.
BELGRADE, Oct. 21. The Servians are transferring their headquarters from Nisch to Vranja.
Arnauts, while retreating on Prepolatz, hoisted a white flag, under protection of which they opened fire, killing Captain Popovitch and twelve men. The Servian artillery then reopened on the Arnauts, killing 200.
