THE LIEDERTAFEL.

To-morrow (Wednesday) evening at the Opera House, the first concert of the recently formed Liedertafel will be given. Realising that it is essential to make their concerts of a high order, the members hare set themselves to present an interesting and attractive programme. They have engaged three excellent artists, each of whom in her or his own art stands in high repute, so that all who are fond of music may rely on being pleased. Miss Teresa McEnroe is popular and well spoken of in Wellington. She will sing Jules Benedict's "Carnival de Venice" and Moore's famous ballad "The Last Rose of Summer." Lieut. Buckley, the celebrated Wanganui cornet player, will play two solos, and Mr Geo. Swan, of Wanganui, well-known on this coast, wili contribute two tationsThe chorus of 24 voices has been practising har'i under tne able- tuition of Mi T. B .McConnell. Their work has been going very well, and they will be able to give a good account of themselves.Male voice part singing is always popular. There is no doubt that a large audience will greet the members of the Liedertafel on their initial effort, and give them encouragement to proceed with the good work they have undertaken.
